HACKNEY DOWNS - TESTING ANKLE INJURY AND FELT ALMOST HEALED, FITNESS LEVEL STILL GOOD - FIRST OUTING FOR EXCELLENT NEW RUNNING SHOES.

20TH APRIL - 7 MILE RUN

VICTORIA PARK AND LONDON FIELDS - FAIRLY SLOW BUT STILL HARD WORK - SUNSHINE.

APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR DANCING LIKE A 17 YEAR OLD JUNGLIST circa 1999 TO NICKY BLACMARKET DJ SET AT BIRTHDAYS BAR AND NIGHTCLUB, DALSTON.  LAGER ACTS AS ANAESTHETIC FOR ANKLE INJURY.

41 MINUTES - REGENTS CANAL WESTWARDS TO ANGEL - SURPRISINGLY FAST AND PERFECTLY PACED - A MAN THOUGH I WAS GOING TO MUG HIM.

29TH MARCH - 4 MILE RUN

36 MINUTES - REGENTS CANAL EASTWARDS TO THE PALM TREE (MILE END) - FAIRLY SLOW AND FAIRLY BORING - FELT A MINOR INJURY IN RIGHT ANKLE - PROBABLY RAN TOO HARD ON 27TH MARCH?

31ST MARCH - ABORTED 7 MILE RUN

ABORTED AFTER APROX 30 MINS - RIGHT ANKLE INJURY - SHOULD HAVE RESTED - TOO MUCH TRAINING TOO QUICKLY HAS CAUSED INJURY?  MUST REST ANKLE UNTIL RECOVERED.

CREATED MY OWN 28 WEEK TRAINING SCHEDULE - MAINLY BASED UPON PFITZINGER'S 55/18 SCHEDULE.  ALSO USING AS REFERENCE HIGDON'S MARATHON ADVANCED 2 AND GRATTON'S 3:15 PROGRAM.

TARGET:  REACH HALF MARATHON DISTANCE IN 10 WEEKS.

HACKNEY DOWNS - LOOSENER.

20TH MARCH - 4 MILE RUN

31 MINUTES - HACKNEY DOWNS - STARTED TO FAST: PUNISHED.

22ND MARCH - 10K RUN

57 MINUTES - VICTORIA PARK - SLOW BUT COMFORTABLE.

WEEK 0

THREE YEARS SINCE I RAN THE LONDON MARATHON;  WAIST LINE EXPANDING DESPITE REGULAR CYCLING AND I NEED TO CUT OUT THE OCCASIONAL CIGARETTES.

INSPIRED BY MY SISTER RAISING MONEY BY WALKING ON HOT COALS TO MARK THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR MOTHERS PASSING - I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAIN TUMOR CHARITY HAS PLACES IN THE BERLIN MARATHON.

   

15TH MARCH - 4.5 MILE RUN

LAPS OF HACKNEY DOWNS - TESTING THE WATERS:  FIRST MILE AND A HALF WAS PAINFUL ON CHEST, HOPEFULLY JUST THE BLOOD VESSELS OPENING.  FROM TWO MILES ONWARD WAS CRUISING.
